After falling in love with Kylie Jenner's perfect rosy brown pout, I decided I needed to recreate her look and see if I could pull it off. After doing a hefty bit of Internet sleuthing to try and determine what products she uses, the most talked about options were MAC's Whirl lip liner and their lipstick in the shade Faux. As MAC is currently out of my price range I ended up doing some further searching for cheaper alternatives and came up with NYX's Matte Lipstick in Whipped Caviar and their slim lip pencil in Mauve. I don't own many NYX products but I do have a couple of their lipsticks that I've received for birthdays, one of which is in the shade B52 and an absolute favourite of mine. With this in mind I ordered Mauve and Whipped Caviar with extremely high expectations and I definitely wasn't let down. As soon as they arrived I took them out, swatched them, and fell straight in love. They were the exact shades that I wanted and even went perfectly with my skin tone which is sometimes slightly annoying to match lipsticks with.

Whipped Caviar is a beautiful nude brown with pink and purple tones, one of the closest shades to Kylie's lips that I've managed to find. Although Whipped Caviar is a matte lipstick, it's actually extremely creamy and moisturising on your lips. The colour glides on and lasts a good while, even longer when paired with a lip liner though as with most lipsticks it may need touching up throughout the day. It's a really versatile colour, it's great when teamed with a smokey eye for a night out but is also suitable for every day wear which is partly why I love it so much.

What really brings the look together though is NYX's lip liner in Mauve, it's the ideal match to go with Whipped Caviar and really accentuates your natural lip colour. Like the lipstick it goes on smoothly and doesn't dry out my lips, I even found that I could probably wear it as a lip shade on its own without anything else on top except for a tiny bit of lip balm. The fact that it's another nude shade with pinky-purple undertones means that it goes well with a whole range of lip colours, whether natural or through a lipstick, I've also heard that it's a pretty spot on dupe for MAC's Whirl lip liner although I can't confirm this but from what I've seen I can definitely agree with that.

Overall I'm so pleased I discovered this duo, they're exactly what I was looking for but at a fraction of the price and incredible quality. NYX is definitely fast becoming one of my favourite brands, they're affordable and seem to have an endless supply of colours and products to choose from.
