Review | Sleek Storm Palette

Friday, 26 August 2011

Unless you've been living under a rock you'll probably have heard of the Sleek Storm Palette by now. This is definitely my favourite palette that I own, it's something I use every time I wear eyeshadow as I think the shades in it are so beautiful and really look gorgeous on!
I first decided to buy this after seeing numerous good reviews of it on various blogs I'd been looking through and as it was quite inexpensive for what it was I went out and purchased it a few months back.

Something I love about this palette is how pigmented the colours are, you don't have to use layers and layers of the product to get a perfect shade on your lids.
I much prefer this to the Urban Decay Naked palette as I think the colours (even though there are less) are more varied and enable you to create different kinds of smokey eye looks, not just the standard black or brown.

The shades I use most are 2, 4, 7, 8, 11 and 12 although there isn't a single shade I dislike in the palette. I use these ones for my standard every day 'smokey eye' look because I think they suit me the best. Even though I stick to these 6 shades usually I'd love to start playing around with 5, 6, 9 and 10 more as after swatching I've fallen head over heels in love with them again because they're just too lovely to ignore!

As you can see the shades in this palette are so rich and pigmented which is fantastic as sometimes you come across colours that look amazing in the packaging but don't compare at all when you use them. I think 2 and 4 are such strong colours so I mainly use 2 as an all over base or highlight for the inner corners of my eyes and 4 on the middle of my lids them blend them together.

The colour that stands out the most here is definitely 10, it reminds me a lot of the Barry M Dazzle Dust in 'Petrol Black'. I like to use this shade when I'm trying to do a more dramatic look; used with 8, 12 and 2 as they all really compliment each other.  My only 'complaint' about the palette is that I think 11 could have been a bit darker so it could be blended in with 12 easier, as the black in this is very rich and dark (like a true black should be!).

Overall I think this palette is amazing, I'm constantly impressed by how pigmented the shades are and for the price I honestly don't think you can go wrong by purchasing it, especially as it's so versatile and looks perfect with any skin tone!
